Eyelid-Surgery

How old do you have to be to get unnessary surgery?

I’m 14 and i REALLY want to get laser eye surgery and double eyelid surgery, for obvious reasons. How old do you have to be to get those two surgeries? I know most surgeries require the patient to be 18 years old but what if I have parents consent and stuff like that. Would I still be able to get it?
Oh, and any comments about laser eyes surgery/double eyelid surgery? Advice? etc? that would be helpful.
Thanks!

  1. In the US, you have to be 18 yrs old to consent yourself for those surgeries. If your parents sign the consent forms, you may have the surgery.

It might not be in your best interest to have laser eye surgery, as your eyes may not be done developing yet. An ophthalmologist who does a lot of lasik would be able to advise you after examining your eyes.

  2. You could probably get any surgery SAFELY that involves parts of your body that are no longer developing. Use that as a general rule of thumb, it usually turns out to be accurate.

  3. pangolin is right. if you get the procedure done now, youll have to get it done again in a few years.

read the fine print on the contract you sign. if you get some sort of guarantee, there are usually stipulations (like yearly eye exams). if you dont get them done, you void your contract and must repay for the procedure.
